Everybody wants to be in the Star Wars sequels except for Jason Statham

Shared for the Jason Statham joke, unless by 'the usual answer' to the 'something stupid' role he means yes.

Everybody wants to be in the Star Wars sequels except for Jason Statham:

Total Film asked a wide variety of actors and directors if they'd like to be involved in J.J. Abrams' upcoming Episode VII. As it turns out, yes, most actors would like to be part of a movie that will likely make $1 billion... except for Jason Statham, who is far too important to lower himself to Ewok-level.
A few other things about this video:
• Ewan McGregor would be willing to be in Episode VII, although he rightly acknowledges he has no idea how the hell that would happen.
• Joss Whedon is obviously nerdy, but it's Eli Roth who nerds the fuck out when asked the question. He wants to make stand-alone films about an increasingly terrible list of obscure SW characters, but ast least he's committed. Truth be told, I'd watch the hell out of a Lobot movie.
• Mila Kunis prefers Trek over Wars. I onlt mention this that no one should be doubting her geek cred, ever.
• Most actors obviously know nothing about Star Wars, but they know everything about sucking up to J.J. Abrams.
• Jason Statham doesn't like sci-fi, because he prefers "true" stories... like The Expendables, or Crank 2, where he has his heart removed and needs to electrocute himself periodically to stay alive. Veritas!

Kick-Ass 2 swears, shoots and bleeds all over its first red-band trailer

Awesome :D Only it's not quite as funny now Hit Girl isn't a tiny child.

Kick-Ass 2 swears, shoots and bleeds all over its first red-band trailer:

The first ever trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has been released, and you probably won't be shocked to know it's chock full of violence and profanity. Chloë Moretz is back to doing what she does best, namely calling people cocksuckers and stabbing them in the groin. It certainly appears Hit Girl has evolved into an even more lethal force since the first movie.
Directed by Jeff Wadlow, the trailer has the same look, feel and pop candy-type tunes that Matthew Vaughn established in the original. Which is a very good thing! Plus, it includes the first footage of Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, as well as Christopher Mintz-Plasse's Motherfucker!
Kick-Ass 2 will hit theaters on August 16th.

Watch a radio-controlled plane's breathtaking journey into the stratosphere and back

Watch a radio-controlled plane's breathtaking journey into the stratosphere and back:

While most weather balloon videos take objects into Earth's upper atmosphere and film them plummeting down to Earth, David Windestål armed a radio-controlled plane with a camera, giving us a first-person view of the plane's controlled (if chaotic) return trip.
Windestål's FunJet reached a height of 33,103 meters above sea level before his weather balloon burst, which threw a small wrench in his flight plans. Still, his footage is stunning, especially as we witness the plane's perspective as it travels through the clouds. Windestål also posted a detailed explanation of the materials he used and the steps he took in preparing the plane in case you want to attempt a similar flight yourself.

Danish TV station discovers the hard way that Assassin’s Creed isn’t real

Danish TV station discovers the hard way that Assassin’s Creed isn’t real:

Joining the distinguished annals of TV-stations-that-have-mistaken-videogames-with-reality is Denmark’s TV2. The station last week used an image from Assassin’s Creed during a report about Syria, which is both a testament to Ubisoft’s graphical prowess and also… well, pretty unfortunate for TV2. The station’s Head of News Jacob Nybroe has since issued an apology for the mistake, admitting that it’s “a reminder to us all of the importance of verifying the sources of pictures.” Indeed.
This isn’t the first time a TV station has mistaken a videogame with reality: last year Britain’s ITV used footage from Arma 2 in a documentary about Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, and the BBC once confused the Halo logo for the United Nations emblem.

SimCity Is Inherently Broken, Let’s Not Let This Go

Bit shouty, but I like John and mostly agree with him.

SimCity Is Inherently Broken, Let’s Not Let This Go:

EA reports that SimCity is slowly getting into a state where it’s playable. Many of the launch issues are getting sorted, and soon it may well be in such a place that it becomes functional. So we should forgive and forget, right? Wrong.

An astoundingly accurate 90s style Walking Dead introduction

This is brilliant. So is the linked Breaking Bad one.
An astoundingly accurate 90s style Walking Dead introduction:

If The Walking Dead was made in the 90s, there is no doubt in our minds this fake introduction would play before each long gab session about walkers. So cheesy, every character gets their own "Oh hey there, camera" moment. The whole thing is perfect. Created by Goestoeleven who has also made a 90s Breaking Bad title sequence.

Lord British’s Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues headed to Kickstarter

Lord British’s Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues headed to Kickstarter:

Ultima creator Richard “Lord British” Garriott has announced his next game. It’s Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues, an episodic RPG with a name that makes just as much sense if you randomly reorder all the words in it. It’s being built in Unity by a team of about 12, Portalarium, and hopes to build on the traits that made Ultima famous. That means there’s no class system to constrain your character. Your avatar can become an adventurer, a farmer or a frontiersman and participate in an “overarching story” that’s “woven into the player experience.” You can expand that story over time by buying future episodes.
Virtue of the Forsaken: Avatar Shroud will also have “meaningful PvP,” crafting, giant spiders, “actions that have consequences,” men with swords in tin hats and player housing, the latter of which is offered as part of the top tier rewards for contributors to the Kickstarter campaign, which is aiming to raise $1m to fund the project.
Forsaken Avatar: Virtues of the Shroud will have a persistent world, but isn’t an MMO. A handful of players can drop in and adventure with you, and if you opt in, you can let the game select these people from your Facebook friends list. If you want to play offline, you can. The game will update with information from the persistent world when you log back in.
Those are a few early details. Find out more on Lord British’s Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues site. Richard Garriott stopped by for a chat with Tyler, so we’ll have more on Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues shortly.
