The world could use more scientists like Lederman because he's the kind of person who sets aside time to set up shop on a New York City street corner (he's also made appearances in Chicago) and simply talk about science. What's more, he does it in a lucid, charming and engaging way.
There's something to be said for taking the wonder and curiosity of science out of the lab and onto the streets — that is, plucking it out of an environment that many in the public consider to be inaccessible and confusing, and dropping it somewhere that those same people might have a chance to ask interesting scientific questions, and maybe pick up a nice dose of enlightenment on their morning commute. If this kind of thing were made common practice, something tells us the world would be a better place for it.
