The gay Green Lantern wins his first battle, against One Million Moms [Green Lantern]

The gay Green Lantern wins his first battle, against One Million Moms [Green Lantern]:
The gay Green Lantern wins his first battle, against One Million MomsSince DC Comics announced the identity of its newly gay superhero: Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, there's been lots of discussion about sexuality diversity in comics. But this Green Lantern has already done one good turn in his early gay life: bloodying the nose of hate group One Million Moms.
Predictably, the anti-gay group is mortified — mortified! — that another gay character is joining the DC roster and posted a warning on its Facebook to any homophobic parents planning to buy the comics for their children. The group similarly called for a boycott of JC Penny when the retailer signed Ellen DeGeneres, and this went about as well. The group's Facebook page was so thoroughly overwhelmed by pro-Alan Scott comments that OMM decided it would be easier to take down the page entirely than moderate the comments. It's certainly just a temporary suspension, but at least Alan Scott managed to knock these folks down a peg.
Robot 6 has a screenshot featuring many of the pro-Scott comments (with a few anti-gay ones sprinkled in), but this may be the best one:
In brightest day, in darkest night, No intolerance shall escape my sight, Let those who worship ignorance's might, Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!
As transparently trollish as OMM's antics are, and as strange as it is that gay superheroes are still news in 2012, it's still satisfying to see OMM's attempt to spread its bigotry result in its being cut off from its Facebook network, even if only for a few days. Of course, this probably isn't the last that this Green Lantern has seen of these groups. Villains always do seem to keep coming back.
